ALL ABOUT J BIRD

Musical artist and sound engineer, J Bird combines his formative experiences in Atlanta with a south Kansas City flow across his discography. The multidimensional talent brings bold and brash lyricism in tandem with flirtatious and introspective wordplay. In the last decade, J Bird has built an extensive catalogue of independently released music creating a rich discography ranging from modern to melodic rap, alternative R&B, and vibrant pop rap.

Born in Kansas City, Missouri, J Bird (Jesse Smith Jr.) relocated to Atlanta, Georgia as a child. At 12 years old, the young entrepreneur started recording, mixing, and mastering in his free time on a family computer. By 2008, the 6th grader dropped his first song and the mixtape "Rough Draft". From 2009-2012 he would go on to drop 5 more mixtapes under the name “DJJ”. Shortly before high-school, J Bird moved back to south Kansas City and brought the Atlantan rhythm with him.

After dropping his first studio album “1018” on all major platforms through his newly formed label Established Music Productions in 2018, he has gone on to mix and master five more albums, including the widely streamed collaborative project, FUSION 2, which surprised fans at the end of 2023.

In November 2023, J Bird released his latest solo studio album “Weeks Before Paris” as a debut of new sounds and style incorporating his signature themes of success and heartbreak. This album dropped after J Bird flew out to the South of France and attended Mix with the Masters at Studios La Fabrique, learning from Leslie Brathwaite, a notable industry Mixing Engineer and influence.
